Doctorate Title: Unpacking the Sociocultural Characteristics of Paramedic Mental Health.

Doctorate Description: My work is a convergent parallel mixed methods approach to exploring paramedic mental health. The quantitative component uses surveys to build an epidemiological profile of Post-Traumatic Stress Illnesses (PTSI) and identify theoretically-plausible risk factors. The qualitative component uses constructivist grounded theory to broadly explore the sociocultural characteristics of the paramedic profession and how these intersect with mental health and wellbeing, including help-seeking, relationship-building, stigma, and the experience of PTSI.
