Doctorate Title: What are the experiences of health service providers introducing alternative care pathways in a community setting?

Doctorate Description: This thesis investigates health service providers' experiences of alternative care pathway programs, which aim to deliver healthcare in the community instead of a hospital, focusing on addressing the needs of complex patients. Key findings highlighted the need for tailored community healthcare and effective collaboration among healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organisations. Despite challenges, these programs showed promising outcomes, by focusing on providing health promotion and holistic care. Future research should assess healthcare utilisation impacts, patient experiences, and barriers to access. Implementing these patient-centred, resource-efficient pathways can help manage demands on the healthcare system, ultimately enhancing patient satisfaction and outcomes.
