Doctorate Title: People, Power and Paramedicine: The Evolution of Paramedicine in Australia - A Critical Discourse Analysis.
Doctorate Description: In 2018, Australian paramedics joined their interdisciplinary colleagues as registered healthcare professionals with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. As such, paramedics must meet national professional competency and registration standards. Professional registration signals a broader changing landscape for Australian paramedicine, with the standards, competencies and associated literature reframing the traditional context and practice of the paramedic. Related changes to education and training have followed, yet this transition into a more professional sphere remains in its infancy, with the impacts of this yet to be fully explored.
